The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) said it will hold a spectrum auction to assign frequencies in the 450 MHz band. The deadline for applications to participate is 23 January 2018, and the auction is due to take place on 06 February. The auction involves one national licence of 2 x 5 MHz.

Among the licence conditions is a requirement to cover 80 percent of the area in each Swedish county with mobile broadband services offering a downlink bitrate of 5 Mbps and an upload speed of 128 kbps. The minimum bid for the licence is SEK 10 million.

The term of licence is from 05 March 2020 up to and including 31 December 2044. The auction will be held as a one round second price auction with sealed bids submitted to PTS. The format and applicable rules for the auction are described in the open invitation.
