
Two independent Swiss ISPs TIC (The Internet Company) and green.ch have announced that they will merge their operations and continue operations under the name green.ch The Internet Company. The merged company provides internet services to SMEs, business customers and residential customers. Green.ch will have more than 100,000 SMEs, company clients and private individuals as customers with more than 45,000 active xDSL connections. The ISP has a Switzerland-wide IP backbone network with over 70 nodes (POPs), data connections within Europe and fibre-optic direct connections to China plus five data centres in Zurich, Brugg, Lucerne/Kriens, Berne and Geneva. Franz Grueter, chairman and CEO of TIC, will run the merged green.ch as the new CEO. The previous CEO of green.ch, Guido Honegger, will continue to be available to the company in an advisory capacity. About 80 employees will work for the new company. No financial details were disclosed.
