Swiss regulator to keep quiet on mobile bidders

The Swiss regulator Bakom is examining the applications to participate in the planned auction of mobile spectrum in the first quarter of 2012. Interested bidders had until 30 September to apply to participate. In order to prevent any collusion, the regulator is not publishing the names of the applicants, bidders or winners until after the auction is completed. Bakom published the conditions of the tender in July. It will cover the GSM and UMTS licences expiring at the end of 2012 and end of 2016 respectively, as well as the so-called "digital dividend" in the 800 MHz band.
