The fusion of PWLAN pioneers WLAN AG (D), Megabeam (UK) and Aervik (NL) under the Swisscom Eurospot umbrella has been successfully completed. The company is now represented in all key European markets, with over 250 hotspots in Germany alone.
Active in 12 European countries, Swisscom Eurospot holds a leading position in the market for mobile wireless data communications (PWLAN). Swisscom Eurospot offers the entire spectrum of services for public hotspots, covering installation, infrastructure and billing, all from a single source. From now on, and particularly in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands, these services will be marketed under a single brand: Swisscom Eurospot.
"Bringing together market leaders under the Swisscom Eurospot name is part of the ongoing implementation of our strategy," comments Frederic Gastaldo, CEO of Swisscom Eurospot. "PWLAN is and will remain a growth market. PWLANs are already successfully established in hotels and airports, and additional public hotspots are in the pipeline."
Swisscom Eurospot currently operates 1,000 hotspots (incl. roaming) in Europe.
