Jens Alder, CEO of Swisscom, does not deny the rumours that he is ready to sell German subsidiary debitel, but says there is no hurry at all. In an interview with Swiss SonntagsZeitung Alder adds that if a potential buyer appears, the proposal will be examined. The rumours are based on the fact that Swisscom has marked debitel as a financial interest and not as a strategic one. Selling debitel is seen as a remarkable step for the Swiss company, as it is one of the healthiest telecom companies in Europe. It is expected to make acquisitions rather than sell assets. Alder however says that a foreign acquisition has no advantages for its customers or employees and therefore is not a priority. Besides Swisscom has a strategic partnership deal with Vodafone, he added.
