T-Mobile International's revenues grow to EUR 19.7 billion
T-Mobile International clearly underlined its position as a revenue growth driver in the Deutsche Telekom Group. In 2002, T-Mobile recorded revenue growth of almost 35 percent or 5.1 billion euros to reach 19.7 billion euros. Even excluding RadioMobil (Czech Republic) and T-Mobile USA, consolidated for the full year for the first time in 2002, and T-Mobile Netherlands, newly consolidated in the fourth quarter of 2002, revenue increased by 16.8 percent. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increased by 61 percent or 1.9 billion euros to 5.0 billion euros. Within the T-Mobile Group, the USA subsidiary recorded the strongest EBITDA growth, turning negative EBITDA of 0.3 billion euros into EBITDA plus 0.5 billion euros. The number of subscribers served by T-Mobile majority shareholdings increased from 46.7 million to 53.9 million in 2002. In Germany, T-Mobile extended its market leadership in comparison with the previous year with almost 24.6 million subscribers. Subscriber growth over the full year amounted to 1.5 million, of which over 56 percent were contract subscribers. The total number of subscribers served by consolidated companies and minority shareholdings of the Deutsche Telekom Group - including mobile communications shareholdings not held by T-Mobile - increased to 81.7 million, which corresponds to a growth of more than 22 percent.
