T-Mobile Netherlands is expanding its Internet XL bundle, part of its "Stel Samel & Stel Bij”, from 12GB to 20GB. The increase is free of charge, will take effect from 6 June and will apply to both new and existing customers. KPN, Vodafone Netherlands and Tele2 Netherlands already offer subscriptions with data bundles of 20 GB or more.
The expansion is part of the provider’s new 'Mobile First' strategy. The operator decided to make the move in response to a sharp rise in customer demand: up 63 percent from the year before. The increase was especially sharp among clients with large internet bundles. The provider therefore decided to give even more mobile internet to XL internet bundle customers. The deal is now better suitable for more applications, such as streaming music and video on the go. Streaming music takes on average 150-200 MB of data per hour. Watching streaming video via a mobile internet connection take 500-1200 MB per hour, depending on the quality of the image.
The number of MBs that can be used in the EU within the XL internet bundle is unchanged at up to 250 MB. Without discounts, the XL data costs EUR 40 per month (EUR 10 subscription fee plus EUR 30 for the data bundle). T-Mobile NL is currently giving discounts on Sim-only subscriptions , whereby the XL data bundle is priced at EUR 26.50 per month.
On 6 June, T-Mobile NL also introduced its new unlimited bundle, the Oneindig Online op je Smartphone deal, which it says gives subscribers the 'ultimate freedom'. The deal costs EUR 90 per month. From July, the unlimited bundle will also become available for business customers.
