T-Mobile, Orange extend network sharing in Poland

T-Mobile Poland and Orange Poland have extended their cooperation in radio access networks sharing to the bands 800 MHz and 2600 MHz, distributed in the latest auction. The original contract for the joint venture NetWorkS! was signed in 2011. Each operator will use only its own frequencies. The cooperation consists of sharing base stations for the provision of LTE services on the frequency ranges awarded to the operators.

This will result in fostering investments and from the client's point of view, increasing the capacity of mobile internet, enabling a higher data transmission speed. The LTE network of T-Mobile Poland now covers more than 98.5 percent of the population and over 88 percent of the territory. Orange Poland covers 98.2 percent of the population and 86 percent of the territory. As a result of the cooperation, the latter indicator will increase.

In the annexe, both companies have agreed on a minimum amount of investment in the coming years. This will be a guarantee that with the growing demand, both companies will invest in a network, from which both T-Mobile and Orange will benefit. At the same time, the companies agreed to use the most recent technologies at base stations and thus support carrier aggregation.

T-Mobile Poland and Orange Poland have been cooperating in radio access networks sharing since 2011. Based on the agreement, the company NetWorkS! manages over 10,000 base stations (each company has more than 5,000 base stations) supporting the technologies 2G/3G/4G. In addition, both companies cooperate in frequency sharing in the band 900 MHz for provision of services in the technology 3G and in the band 1800 MHz in the technology LTE.
