T-Mobile US expands GoSmart to provide free Facebook access
T-Mobile US has announced it is expanding its GoSmart Mobile prepaid mobile brand by partnering with Facebook to offer US consumers free access to Facebook and Facebook Messenger, even those without a monthly data service. Beginning in January 2014, consumers can log-on from a browser or the Facebook application on their compatible mobile phone. GoSmart is available in four plans, each with no annual contract: Unlimited Talk is available for USD 25 per month, Unlimited Talk and Text is available for USD 30 per month, Unlimited Talk, Text, Web is available for USD 35 per month and Unlimited Talk, Text and 5GB of data is available for USD 45 per month. Customers can activate service by purchasing a GoSmart Mobile Sim kit for USD 8 and installing it in their GSM compatible, unlocked mobile phone or by purchasing a phone from GoSmart.

T-Mobile US grows customer base 10.4% in 2013

T-Mobile US reported another quarter of strong customer growth, adding a net 1.645 million new customers in the fourth quarter. Postpaid customers under its own brand grew by 869,000 in the three months, a 34 percent increase from the previous quarter. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son is exploring a deal for Sprint to buy the majority of T-Mobile US in 2014 and has discussed financing a bid with banks such as Credit Suisse, Mizuho and Goldman Sachs, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
