T-Mobile US launches major network upgrade
T-Mobile US has launched a major new programme to expand and upgrade its 2G/EDGE network with LTE. The company plans to complete 50 percent of the work by the end of 2014 and expects the programme to be substantially complete by the middle of 2015. The upgrade will provide customers who currently experience 2G/EDGE coverage new access to LTE, and those already covered by LTE will be able to access the upgraded network in more areas. In addition, T-Mobile plans to begin deploying LTE in the new 700 MHz A-Block spectrum the company is in the process of acquiring.

T-Mobile US added a record 2.4 million new customers in the first quarter, as its new pricing strategy started a year ago paid off. T-Mobile US adds more data on Simple Choice plans

T-Mobile US is improving the terms of its main Simple Choice plan, doubling the amount of data available to 1 GB. The plan at USD 50 per month also allows tethering and comes with unlimited national calls and texts and unlimited international texting. US mobile operator Leap Wireless lost a net 745,297 customers in 2013 for a total 4.551 million, hurt by increased competition from T-Mobile and its brand MetroPCS. T-Mobile US takes over 100,000 pre-orders for Galaxy S5

T-Mobile US received over 100,000 pre-orders for the new Samsung Glaxy S5 smartphone within less than two days of starting to take orders. CMO Mike Sievert announced the news on Twitter, saying this was a record for a new phone at the operator. T-Mobile will start sales of the phone in April.
