TA, America Movil unveil global wholesale agreement
Telekom Austria Group and America Movil have announced a partnership to interconnect networks voice, roaming, data and mobile services. The fibre network connection will be established between Miami and Vienna with a back-up between Dallas and Frankfurt. Telekom Austria becomes one of the first provider to use America Movil's new Latin American Voice Hub in Miami which will process the entire voice traffic of the company in the future. This global wholesale partnership with America Movil follows Telekom Austria Group's partnership with KPN International in Europe.

America Movil says Telekom Austria girds for consolidation

Telekom Austria is about to undertake a wave of expansion, America Movil CFO Carlos Garcia Moreno said in an interview with Austrian magazine 'News'. He said that America Movil has given an undertaking to expand in central and eastern Europe via Telekom Austria alone, and would do so at full throttle following regulatory approvals. America Movil foresees a major consolidation on the European telecommnications market, supported by a change in European Union regulation.

America Movil submits formal offer for Telekom Austria

America Movil has formally submitted its takeover offer for Telekom Austria, reports Reuters. It has offered EUR 7.15 per share for the rest of the stock not already owned by the Mexican telecoms company or its partner, Austrian state holding company OIAG. The offer will be open for eight weeks, expiring at 17.00 hours CET on 10 July. The buy-out will cost America Movil up to USD 2 billion. This is in addition to the USD 1 billion acquiring its existing 27 percent stake in Telekom Austria.

America Movil expects regulators to approve its deal to take control of Telekom Austria within 4-8 weeks, according to CFO Carlos Garcia Moreno, reports Reuters. The Austrian Federal Competition Office has been notified of the proposed takeover of Telekom Austria by America Movil. It is now consulting on the proposals, with interested parties able to submit comments over the next 14 days.

Trade union slams America Movil-Telekom Austria pact

Austrian postal and telecoms union GPF has criticised the agreement between state holding company Osterreichische Industrieholding (OIAG) and America Movil, which opens the way for the Mexican company to take control of Telekom Austria. Werner Muhm, director general of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour, said the leadership role at Austria Telekom has been yielded.
