Taiwan will disallow voice services over WiMAX
Taiwan is planning to develop both WiMAX and 3G services in the country by removing voice features from WiMAX services. 3G operators in Taiwan had feared that WiMAX would replace 3G if they shared the same contents. The Taiwanese government will not appropriate phone number lines to WiMAX operators, the operators will therefore pay lower fees and assume fewer obligations than 3G operators. To foster WiMAX services, the government will release 2.5 Ghz - 2.9 Ghz spectrum bands as a training arena for operators, reports Telecom Asia quoting Taiwan Economic News.
