Tarana raises USD 88 mln from Khosla Ventures, EchoStar and 1010 Holdings
California-based fixed wireless specialist Tarana Wireless has announced USD 60 million in new funding from Khosla Ventures and EchoStar Corporation plus follow-on financing of USD 28m led by 1010 Holdings. In a statement, the company added that EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen, Khosla Ventures partner Samir Kaul, and Greg Wyler, chairman of OneWeb, have joined Tarana’s board of directors and that Kranti Kilaru recently stepped down from his role as EVP at EchoStar to join Tarana’s leadership team as president.

Tarana has now raised a total of nearly USD 200 million to create a new class of radio technology with immunity to obstructions, interference, changing conditions and spectrum scarcity. The company said its fixed wireless access technology will drive a tenfold improvement in the network economics of gigabit broadband access at massive scale.
