Tavrin appointed CEO of MegaFon
Russian mobile operator MegaFon's extraordinary general shareholders meeting decided to appoint Ivan Tavrin as CEO of MegaFon. MegaFon's board of directors decided that Sergey Soldatenkov, formerly MegaFon's CEO, will be recommended as a candidate for election to the board of directors at the next annual shareholders meeting. The decision will come into force as of 20 April. Tavrin is a member of the Executive Board of the National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters.

Russian mobile operator Megafon has received USD 1 billion credit from Russian bank Gazprombank, reports Prime-Tass. The re-payment term totals five years. The operator earlier agreed a USD 2 billion credit from Citibank, BNP Paribas and Barclays, as well as USD 1.5 billion at Russian bank Sberbank.

Usmanov to take control of Megafon ahead of IPO

The shareholders of Russian operator Megafon have agreed a new ownership structure that will see AF Telecom, the holding company of Russian entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov, take control of the company. TeliaSonera will sell an 8.2 percent indirect stake to AF for USD 1.45 billion, while Altimo will sell its entire 25.1 percent stake in Megafon. The latter transaction will include the sale of 14.4 percent to a subsidiary of MegaFon for USD 2.16 billion, while the remaining 10.7 percent will be sold to AF Teleco

Russian mobile operator Megafon has acquired an IPTV platform from Russian company BCC, reports Prime Tass. The operator plans to use the platform to provide IPTV and OTT services.

Megafon to carry out IPO in July - report

Russian mobile operator Megafon plans to launch its IPO in July, reports Vedomosti. The operator plans to attract up to USD 4 billion in this way. The decision to list on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) has already been approved by shareholders of the operator. Megafon is planning to sell a 20-25 percent stake via the IPO.

Megafon CEO to step down early - report

Sergey Soldatenkov, the CEO of Russian mobile operator Megafon, will step down before his current contract expires, reports Vedomosti citing people familiar with the matter. The contract is set to end in June. Ivan Tavrin, the first deputy CEO, will replace Soldatenkov as CEO from 23 April.

Megafon agrees USD 2 billion bridge credit

Russian mobile operator Megafon confirmed an agreement for a USD 2 billion bridge credit from Citi, BNP Paribas and Barclays. The credit runs for six months and can be extended for another six months. According to Russian media reports, Megafon will use the credit to buy back shareholder Altimo's stake in the company. Altimo owns a 25.1 percent stake in Megafon.
