Tele2 Estonia rolls out 4G with 2,100 MHz band
Tele2 Estonia announced that it's working with Nokia Networks to roll out 4G using the 2,100 MHz band. Tele2 said it's one of the first operators in the world to use the band traditionally reserved for 3G services to develop 4G. It aims to have the fastest 4G network in the world thanks to using the 2,100 MHz band. Using tri-carrier aggregation, the operator is aiming for speeds of 375 Mbps. Increases in capacity and coverage will also be supported by the use of software-defined networking. Last year Tele2 already swapped out its entire network for the latest generation of Nokia equipment.

Sonera achieves data speeds of 375 Mbps in demo 

Nokia Networks and TeliaSonera conducted a live demonstration of LTE-Advanced three-band Carrier Aggregation (3x CA) using Category 9 devices. The companies showcased record-breaking data rates of up to 375 Mbps on a commercial network. Performed on Sonera's commercial network in Helsinki, the demonstration aggregated three LTE FDD carriers of 20MHz, 20MHz and 10MHz bandwidth. Sonera plans to continue rolling out the advanced service network-wide once compatible devices are available in sufficient volumes.

Tele2 expands LTE network in Southern Estonia

Mobile operator Tele2 Estonia plans to expand its LTE network in Southern Estonia from 01 July. Another 22 base stations will be launched in the Valga, Voru and Polva municipalities there, using the 800 MHz band. Nokia Networks, Zain complete carrier aggregation project

Nokia Networks and Zain KSA announced their successful completion of a pilot project using carrier aggregation to combine the FDD-LTE bands 1,800 and 2,100 MHz. Tele2 Estonia upgrades core station equipment

Mobile operator Tele2 Estonia has replaced the equipment of its core station with new equipment. The capacity of the new core station totals 10 million calls and 12 million LTE mobile internet sessions simultaneously. The size of the investment amounted to EUR 40 million, with Nokia equipment used during the project. All mobile services across the country were earlier supported by the core station.

Tele2 invests EUR 50 mln in the Baltics

Tele2 has invested EUR 50 million in the telecom infrastructure in the Baltic States. The network upgrade was recently completed in Estonia, after finalising in Lithuania in the spring and in Latvia last year. The project was carried out in cooperation with Nokia Networks.
