TeleCity provides PoP to SingTel
TeleCity, the leading European provider of colocation and data centre services, announced that it has signed an agreement with Asia’s leading telecommunications and IP services provider, SingTel, who have chosen TeleCity’s data centre facility in Frankfurt as its main Point of Presence in Germany. Together with its regional alliances, SingTel is Asia’s largest multi-market mobile operator, with more than 65 million customers in seven markets - Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The SingTel Group provides a wide range of communications including national telephone services, mobile communications services, public data and private network services and international telephone services. The Group has two main hubs in Singapore and Australia which are complemented by a significant presence in global offices located worldwide. SingTel’s Point of Presence in Germany helps the company to better serve its European customers by providing the Group with expanded reach and enabling it to offer high quality, seamless services to its customers across borders. The decision to move to TeleCity in Germany reflects SingTel’s increased focus on the German market for international corporate data services. TeleCity will provide SingTel with managed data centre services within the Frankfurt facility. TeleCity’s system engineering services will support SingTel’s German Point of Presence, providing rapid response, monitoring and management, with engineers present on-site 24x7. “As part of our programme of growth in Europe we consider it vital to work with a trustworthy data centre provider so that we can concentrate on the imperatives of managing and developing our business in the region,” said Kevin Waldock, Technical Director, SingTel Europe. “TeleCity’s data centre is an excellent facility for us in Germany. The existence of a healthy customer base in the country, among which includes a large number of carriers, is a major reason why we chose this as the location from which to offer our services. The engineers’ proactive approach and service offered convinced us that they are the right company for us.” “Increasingly, businesses such as carriers, ISPs, ASPs and webhosting companies are being requested by their customers to locate their infrastructure in a carrier neutral business environment where network resilience and continuity can be guaranteed,” said Bela Waldhauser, Managing Director, TeleCity Germany. “The decision by SingTel to locate its main Point of Presence in TeleCity’s carrier neutral facility reinforces this trend.”
