Telecom Italia wins Consip tender for fixed network services

Telecom Italia has been awarded a contract from the public procurement agency Consip for the provision of fixed telephony services (voice and data) for the Italian public administration. Telecom Italia confirmed it will sign an agreement with Consip for the supply of 375,000 lines, or 75 percent of the total tender, expandable up to a maximum of 525,000. The tender was carried out through an open auction with a base value of EUR 1.280 billion. The contract, which runs for 36 months extendable up to 48, will benefit some 19,000 end-users. Last February, Telecom Italia also won the tender launched by Consip for the provision of mobile services. The remaining 25 percent of the fixed-line contract was awarded to Fastweb.
