Telecom New Zealand starts search for new CEO
Telecom New Zealand's board has commenced the recruitment process for a new CEO. The company plans to consider both internal and external candidates. Current CEO Paul Reynolds signalled in August that he intended to step down once Telecom was established as an independent company post demerger. Telecom earlier this month spun off its networks arm Chorus as a separate company.

Telecom NZ names Moutter as CEO

Telecom New Zealand has appointed Simon Moutter to the role of chief executive officer and managing director, effective 1 September this year. Moutter is currently CEO of Auckland International Airport and has previously held senior roles at Telecom. Telecom New Zealand posted a net profit of NZD 1 billion for the first half ended 31 December, versus NZD 165 million a year earlier. The period included five months of trading before the demerger of Chorus and one month of trading post-demerger. The result includes a non-cash accounting gain of NZD 863 million related to the demerger of Chorus, as well as several other one-off items. Telecom NZ to begin capital structure review

Telecom New Zealand will commence a review of its capital structure, following the completion of the Chorus demerger. As earlier announced, Telecom intends to adopt a capital structure consistent with maintaining an "A band" credit rating. The company expects to provide more information relating to its capital structure at its half year results in February 2012.

Telecom, Chorus officially demerged

Telecom New Zealand has has officially completed the separation of Chorus via a demerger, meaning that Chorus is now an entirely stand-alone company. Court approval for the split was given earlier this month after most of Telecom's shareholders were in favour of demerger. The separation enables Chorus to take part in the government's Ultra-Fast Broadband project.
