Telecom NZ launches youth brand Skinny
Telecom New Zealand's youth brand Skinny has launched in beta. The brand offers standard voice call rates of NZD 39 per minute to any network, SMS messages cost NZD 0.9, and data is priced at NZD 0.39 per MB. Customers buy 'Weekly Combos' for NZD 4 which renew each week until cancelled. New Sims come preloaded with the Loose Lips combo which includes 40 voice minutes, 100 SMS messages, and 10 MB of data. A second combo called Busy Fingers comes with 10 voice minutes, 750 texts, and 10 MB of data for NZD 4 per week. Out-of-bundle rates are NZD 0.39 per minute for voice calls, NZD 0.9 per text, and NZD 0.30 per MB. Skinny also offers a 120 MB data add-on for NZD 4 per week. For a limited time, Skinny offers free Sims to new customers and until the end of April Skinny customers can make free on-net calls. The company also revealed that it will lock phones for nine months and customers wanting to unlock their phone before the nine months are up will need to pay a fee of NZD 30.
