Telefonica has teamed up with Etisalat, SingTel and SoftBank to create an alliance designed to offer businesses a comprehensive portfolio of cybersecurity services. The partners said the Global Security Alliance is set to become one of the top five security providers in the world, with more than 1.2 billion customers in over 60 countries across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Together, the group’s members currently operate 22 Security Operation Centres (SOCs) and employ more than 6,000 cybersecurity experts.
Under the agreement, the group’s members will share network intelligence on cyber threats and use their joint global reach, assets and cybersecurity capabilities to serve customers worldwide. To enhance their cybersecurity portfolio, the members will also look into the possibility of developing new technologies such as predictive analytics using machine learning and advanced security for the Internet of Things.
The alliance, which is open to bringing in new members over time, will also consider developing a joint roadmap for the evolution of their security portfolios and explore joint investments in security products and services, SOCs, platforms, startups and R&D.
