Telefonica increases 2010 dividend by 21.7%
Telefonica's dividend for this year will increase by 21.7 percent to EUR 1.40 per share, versus the previous year's dividend of EUR 1.15 per share. In 2009, Telefonica's shareholders saw a 15 percent dividend increase to EUR 1.15 per share. The operator will pay this year's dividend in two tranches. The first payment for EUR 0.65 euro was already paid on 11 May. Additionally, Telefonica plans to pay a dividend of at least EUR 1.75 per share in 2012.

Telefonica will distribute an interim dividend from 2011 net income, of a gross amount of EUR 0.75 per share. Telefonica may boost its dividend to EUR 1.89 per share in 2014, El Economista reports, citing MF Global Securities, Jefferies, Ahorro Corporacion and La Caixa analysts. Spanish telephony giant Telefonica will propose paying shareholders EUR 1 per share as dividend for the fiscal year 2008. The operator said it would propose the dividend at its Investor Day on 11 October and would pay it in two rounds: one in the second half of 2008 and the other in the first half of 2009.
