Telefonica inks deal to sell O2 Spain offers in 2,400 post offices

Telefonica has reached a deal with the Spanish state postal service (Correos) to sell its new low-cost O2 brand in around 2,400 post offices all over Spain, reports Europa Press. The offer was previously only available online and via MediaMarkt stores but will now be sold by postal staff throughout the country, said the report. O2’s straightforward mobile only and convergent (fibre plus mobile) offering has been available since last summer and the simplicity of the plans make it an ideal fit for non-specialised staff to explain, added the report.

O2’s mobile plan comes with 20GB of data plus unlimited national calls and SMS for EUR 20 a month while the convergent offer includes the same mobile service plus symmetric fibre broadband at 100Mbps and a landline with unlimited national calls for EUR 45 a month. Customers can also include up to three additional mobile lines with 10GB of data, unlimited calls and SMS for EUR 15 each.

Spanish post office launches Correos Telecom MVNO

Spanish state postal operator Correos has launched a new MVNO venture on Telefonica's Movistar network with mobile plans starting at EUR 14.99 a month and convergent rates starting at EUR 36.99 as well as special rates for post office employees. The Correos Telecom plans available at launch include a EUR 9.99 a month rate with 10GB, rising to EUR 14.99 for 35GB, rising to EUR 19.99 for 50GB and EUR 24.99 for 100GB.

Spanish post office to launch MVNO and cloud platform - report

Spain's postal service (Correos) is preparing to launch an MVNO service to compete in the domestic low-cost space, reports business daily Expansion, citing unnamed sources close to the state-owned company. The venture is part of a new business diversification strategy that also includes the creation of a cloud storage service for public administration bodies, said the report, without providing details of network operator partners.

O2 Spain launches data sharing option

Telefonica Spain's low-cost O2 brand has announced the launch of data sharing among mobile lines on the same day it increases the bundled data included in its only mobile plan by 25 percent from 20GB to 25GB. Starting 18 November, anyone with a convergent contract can share the monthly 25GB data as well as any extra data bundles between lines on the same account. To do so, customers simply have to click on the "share data" option in the Mi O2 app for Android or iOS phones.

Telefonica selling O2 Spain plans at Movistar stores

Telefonica has begun selling the plans of its low-cost O2 brand in its 1,000 or Movistar stores all over Spain, reports Movilonia. The operator launched O2's mobile only and convergent (fibre plus mobile) offering over a year ago, initially offering the plans solely via on online channel before expanding to physical channels including 2,400 post offices, 770 travel agency offices owned by the Globalia group and MediaMarkt stores.

Masmovil to market Pepephone offers in 2,400 post offices across Spain

Spanish operator Pepephone, a Masmovil brand, has reached an agreement with the Spanish state postal service (Correos) to sell three of its plans in around 2,400 post offices all over Spain, reports Movilonia. The plans available include 'Inimitable' with 25GB of rollover data and unlimited calls for EUR 19.90 a month plus two 'Inimitable Trio' convergent plans with 200Mbps fibre, unlimited calls and one or two mobile lines with 25GB of data.

O2 Spain launches 5GB data bundles for EUR 5

Telefonica's O2 brand in Spain has followed the announcement that it's doubling the data included in its additional mobile lines with the launch of new 5GB data bundles at a cost of EUR 5 each. The bundles are tied to customers' billing cycles and cannot be accumulated from one month to the next. They're available via the Mi O2 app to anyone subscribing to the company's EUR 50 a month convergent tariff or EUR 20 a month mobile tariff, both of which already include 20GB of mobile data.

Telefonica to market O2 Spain in 770 travel agency offices

Telefonica has reached a deal with the Globalia group to market its low-cost O2 brand in 770 travel agency offices throughout Spain. Around a year after launching O2 Spain, the operator has added a new distribution channel and will sell its mobile only and convergent (fibre plus mobile) offering via 605 Halcon Viajes offices and a further 165 Viajes Ecuador outlets located in large towns and cities all over the country.

Telefonica's O2 brand in Spain will finally charge a flat rate of EUR 50 a month for its new convergent offering with fibre at speeds of up to 300 Mbps, reports Xataka Movil. The company previously charged EUR 58 a month for a 100Mbps fibre plus mobile offering in "non-competitive" parts of the country, as defined by communications watchdog CNMC, whereas the cost of the plan in the 66 cities deemed "competitive" by the watchdog was EUR 45 a month.

Telefonica's new O2 brand in Spain has followed in the footsteps of its parent company by rolling out an embedded SIM card (eSIM) service. The technology is initially available on the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR smartphones, as well as the iPad Pro, with customers simply asked for ID details to verify the ownership of the line before being sent all the necessary data for the eSIM activation, including the corresponding PIN, PUK and QR code.

Telefonica's O2 brand in Spain is delivering triple the contracted speed to its customers after launching its trial EUR 45 a month convergent plan last month, reports El Espanol.
