Telefonica O2 to cut jobs with Hansenet integration - report
Telefonica O2 Germany's fixed network division is facing a restructuring following the integration of German fixed network operator Hansenet, according to heise online citing a memo of the company's works council. The restructuring operation is called Cocoon and foresees larger job cuts than expected with 20 percent of all 6,700 jobs at Telefonica O2 in danger of being cut. At the same time, whole locations are in danger of being closed with 200 job cuts foreseen at the Verl location, which employs 350, according to local newspaper Neuen Westfälischen Zeitung. On 8 October, all employees will be informed about the restructuring plans. Telefonica O2 Germany would not react to these rumours and said that information about the next phase on integrating Hansenet will be made public shortly.
