Telefonica to reduce share capital by 1.5%

Thursday 29 September 2016 | 09:05 CET | News
Telefonica has announced its decision to proceed with the cancellation of shares equivalent to 1.5 percent of its capital. In a statement to Spanish market regulator CNMV, the company said it would cancel around 74.6 million shares of company stock over the next few days even though the move was previously subject to the sale of its O2 UK unit to 3 UK, a transaction that was eventually blocked by the European Commission. In its statement, Telefonica said its board had decided to waive that condition and continue with the share capital reduction.
