Telekom Austria has confirmed that its cost-cutting plans include major job cuts, but could not give details about the exact number, according to Telekom Austria fixed network boss Rudolf Fischer during the presentation of the 2007 financial report. Fischer said that the continued loss of fixed line customers needs to be compensated by cutting costs, which will include major job cuts, but he could not say if it will be 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 jobs that need to be cut. He also said that the operator is looking for new revenue sources to replace the lost fixed line revenues especially with its IPTV service Aon TV. Currently, 21,000 Austrian households watch TV via Telekom Austria and the service is winning around 1,000 new customers per week.
