Telekom Deutschland boosts mobile data speeds
Telekom Deutschland has announced an almost 10-fold increase in the maximum bandwidth available to new and existing customers using the Call & Surf Mobil mobile internet tariffs. With immediate effect, customers can benefit from maximum speeds of 3.6 Mbps, up from 384 kbps previously. The tariffs start from EUR 19.95 per month for the Call & Surf Mobil S package. In addition, the Speed Option, which costs an extra EUR 9.95 per month and is available with the Complete Mobil L and XL plans, will see its maximum mobile bandwidth increased from 14.4 Mbps to 21.6 Mbps.

Telekom Deutschland has announced has announced new mobile data flat-rates for pre-paid customers. Xtra Handy DayFlat costs EUR 0.99 for one day of mobile surfing and e-mail, with Xtra Handy Flat costing EUR 9.95 for one month. German mobile operators report higher SMS results during the New Year's period, according to teltarif.de. Telekom Deutschland reports 69.5 SMSs sent on 1 January with 12 million SMSs send between 0.00 and 1.00 hours. German mobile services provider Mobilcom-debitel has launched a promotion offering a 50 percent discount on smartphones in combination with a Telekom Deutschland subscription of at least 24 months. The promotion is valid until 23 December and customers can choose between the iPhone 3Gs 8GB, iPhone 4 16 GB, iPhone 4 32 GB, Nokia N8, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy Tab, HTC Desire, HTC 7 Mozart and the Samsung Omnia 7. Telekom unveils LTE sites in Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen

Telekom Deutschland has announced the deployment of new LTE base stations in Rheinland-Pfalz (Trippstadt and Hermeskeil) and in Hessen (Schenklengsfeld). The new base stations support the provision of high-speed mobile broadband services. The operator plans to deploy an LTE technology in arond 500 sites by end-2010.

Telekom Deutschland has started to market the Samsung Omnia 7, the second smartphone with Windows 7 Phone OS, following the introduction of the HTC 7 Mozart. Telekom Deutschland is now selling the iPhone 3G S as a pre-paid handset, teltarif.de reports. It is offering an 8 GB iPhone 3G S in combination with an XtraCard for EUR 529.95. Telekom Deutschland deploys LTE in Lower Saxony

Telekom Deutschland has announced the launch of an LTE base station in Harsefeld in Lower Saxony to serve the communities of Harsefeld and Bargstedt. The new technology will bring high-speed mobile broadband to these 'white spots' that previously lacked high-speed broadband coverage. Telekom sees data roaming deal with E-Plus as possible

Telekom Deutschland Niek Jan van Damme believes that a national data roaming agreement with smaller mobile network rival E-Plus is possible. Telekom Deutschland to offer HTC 7 Mozart from 3 November

Telekom Deutschland will start selling the Windows Phone 7-based smartphone HTC 7 Mozart from 3 November of this year as part of the launch of the new mobile tariffs, according to teltarif.de citing confirmation from a Telekom Deutschland spokesman.
