Telenet CEO Duco Sickinghe resigns
Belgian cable operator Telenet has announced the resignation of CEO and managing director Duco Sickinghe. He will be succeeded by John Porter, the former CEO of Australian operator Austar until its sale to Foxtel by Telenet's parent company Liberty Global. Sickinghe will step down from his current executive duties at 31 March and as director during the shareholders meeting on 24 April.

Telenet Q1: growth driven by success in mobile market

Telenet recently reported results for the first quarter. The Belgian cable oeprator reported revenues of EUR 406 million, up 11 percent thanks to growth in the mobile market and more services per customer. This offset the loss of basic video customers and price pressure in the broadband market. Gross profit increased 8.0 percent to EUR 269 million, giving a margin of 66.4 percent. Telenet-CEO Duco Sickinghe verlaat de Belgische kabelaanbieder. Zijn opvolger wordt John Porter. De raad van bestuur van Telenet Group Holding bracht dinsdag 5 maart een persbericht uit waarin het aangeeft dat de raad het ontslag van haar Sickinghe heeft aanvaard. Telenet gets new data centre, hosting & cloud director

Telenet is losing its director for data centres, hosting & cloud, DataNews reported. John Mycklebust will leave the position after 16 months. He will be succeeded by Carl Alloin, who came back to Telenet seven months ago as director of SOHO and carrier sales. Alloin left Telenet in 2008 to work for Clearwire and then Techdata.

Telenet in Q4: strong growth thanks to digital TV and mobile

Belgian cable operator Telenet reported fourth-quarter revenues up 9.1 percent from a year earlier to EUR 395 million. Gross profit rose 6.2 percent to EUR 256 million, while the margin fell by 5.2 percent points to 64.8 percent. The reason for the drop was partly the operator's growth in mobile services, where it does not have its own network and must buy in wholesale capacity. Belgian cable operator Telenet reported full year revenues up 8 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.488 billion, driven by underlying RGU growth. For the fourth quarter, revenues lifted 9 percent to EUR 394.5 million, positively impacted by a one-off gain of EUR 4.7 million.
