Telenet raises outlook on Interkabel takeover
Belgian cable operator Telenet has increased its outlook for 2008 results following completion of its takeover of Interkabel. The acquisition adds 762,500 TV customers, and Telenet expects the activities to contribute revenues of EUR 22-25 million in the fourth quarter. The deal sees Telenet's TV footprint rise to 2.7 million homes from 1.9 million; the company already offered broadband and telephony services over the Interkabel networks. Telenet's interactive digital TV service and new triple-play bundles will be launched across the network on 15 October. Before some EUR 5-6 million in costs for marketing and the new services, the Interkabel activities are expected to egnerate EBITDA of EUR 10-12 million in Q4. Thanks to the takeover and good organic growth, Telenet now expects its annual sales to grow 8-9 percent, EBITDA up 10-12 percent and capex of EUR 185-195 million (excluding set-top box rentals). The company previously forecast sales up 5-6 percent and EBITDA growth of 8-10 percent.
