
Telenor Group has appointed new chief executive officers of its dtac unit in Thailand and Digi subsidiary in Malaysia, effective 1 April. Lars-Ake Norling, currently CEO of Digi will take over the position of CEO of Thai mobile operator Total Access Communication (dtac). Albern Murty, currently chief operating officer of Malaysian mobile operator Digi, will assume the position of company CEO.
Sigve Brekke will step down as interim CEO at Dtac and return to focusing on his role as EVP and head of region Asia, Telenor Group. He continues to serve as vice-chairman of Dtac's board of directors.
Norling joined Digi as CEO in August 2014. Previous to Digi, he was CEO of Telenor Sweden from 2009 to 2014. He has also held a number of executive positions in the fixed broadband provider Bredbandsbolaget in Sweden, as well as in Ericsson.
Murty has spent the last 13 years in a variety of senior executive roles in Digi. In January 2014, he became the company's COO after serving as CMO for a number of years. Before Digi, he held business and commercial management roles at Lucent Technologies across the Asian region.
