Telenor Denmark signs wholesale access agreement with Fibia

Telenor Denmark said it has signed a wholesale contract with Fibia and will soon be offering its MaxSpeed services to 500,000 addresses on Zealand, Lolland, Falster and in eastern Jutland in Fibia's coverage area. This will make Telenor the largest Danish provider of gigabit broadband, it said. Even before the deal with Fibia, it was offering internet to 1.90 million addresses nationwide.

Fibia is planning to expand its fibre network to approximately 600,000 homes, it added. Businesses will benefit from the service as well as residential customers by supporting teleworking during the coronavirus pandemic. Telenor expects to start serving customers via the Fibia network in 2021, once the technical deployment has been completed.

Telenor Denmark said it is now offering its Maxspeed gigabit broadband service to another 509,000 residences on Zealand and in eastern Jutland, following its agreement signed with Fibia last year. Fibia is the name of the fibre network run jointly by the utility companies NRGi and mutually owned Andel, which in turn was known as SEAS-NVE until August 2020. Telenor Maxspeed costs DKK 349 monthly via Fibia for the 1 Gbps service and DKK 319 for 500 Mbps service.

Telenor Denmark adds 21,000 mobile subscribers in Q3

Telenor Denmark said total revenues in Q3 increased to NOK 1.30 billion from NOK 1.21 billion a year earlier. In Danish kroner, turnover under the IFRS 16 standard was DKK 905 million. The operator added 21,000 mobile subscribers over the course of the third quarter.

Telenor Denmark brings in new home gateway with Kaon and SoftAtHome

Telenor Denmark is bringing out a gateway for home connectivity in conjunction with contractor Kaon and SoftAtHome, which provides software for broadband, video and analytics. They have supplied a mesh-enabled home gateway to Telenor in a record time of three months during the pandemic crisis. The gateway from Kaon integrates SoftAtHome's Connect'ON and Wifi'ON software.

Fibia gains 40,000 customers, ends with FY loss after investment in fibre deployment

Danish operator Fibia said it passed a record 70,000 homes through fibre deployment in 2019 and gained 40,000 new customers, bringing its total subscriber base to 160,000. Full year EBITDA was DKK 240 million but Fibia ended 2019 with a loss of DKK 49 million, which CEO Casper Holst-Christensen said was satisfactory given that it had invested approximately DKK 1 billion.

Telenor Denmark's MaxSpeed comes top of consumer council broadband test

Danish consumer council Taenk has named Telenor Denmark's MaxSpeed as the best broadband service on the Danish market, out of 97 products tested. It was given the mark "Very good" in the three categories of customer service, contract period and set-up fee. The operator said the monthly price of DKK 249 makes MaxSpeed the cheapest gigabit service in Denmark.

Norlys pulls out of Waoo partnership for TV but signs up Fibia as provider on wholesale basis

Danish operator Norlys said it will discontinue its cooperation with Waoo for the distribution of Waoo TV to Eniig Fiber customers. Instead, Norlys will concentrate on providing its own television brands, Stofa and Boxer, on its own infrastructure. Separately, Fibia said it has agreed to become a wholesale provider of Waoo services on the Norlys network.

Telenor Denmark adds 11,000 mobile customers in Q2

Telenor Denmark said revenue in the second quarter was DKK 899 milion under the IFRS 16 standard with EBITDA holding steady at DKK 222 million, putting the margin at 25 percent. The mobile customer base expanded by 11,000 in Q2 to over 1.65 million and it has added 17,000 mobile customers since the start of 2020. Covid-19 restrictions had led it to shut its shops until 15 May and had caused many corporate customers to cut their spending.
