Telenor launches 4G network in Serbia
Telenor has activated its 4G network in Serbia. Postpaid customers will be the first to use the 4G network as part of their tariff packages. The 4G network initially covers areas of Belgrade, Subotica city centre, Kopaonik and Zlatibor. Telenor plans to expand soon to areas of Nis and Novi Sad and more of Belgrade. The roll-out of 4G will be delivered in phases, first in urban and, later in rural areas, depending on customer needs. Customers need to have a 4G uSim in order to access the LTE network; Telenor provides these free.

Serbia starts tender for 3 licences in 800 MHz band

Serbia's Regulatory Telecommunications Agency (Ratel) has decided to hold a tender for licences in the 791-821/832-862 MHz bands. The licences will be offered on a technology-neutral basis, each valid for 10 years and renewable for another five years. The starting price for each of the three licences on offer will be EUR 17.5 million. Potential bidders must have at least 2 million mobile telephony users and achieved mobile telephony revenues of at least EUR 160 million in 2014.

Mt:s introduces 4G for Box customers

Serbian mobile operator Mt:s has introduced the 4G service for subscribers to its Box bundled offers. The operator's 4G signal already covers large parts of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Kragujevac, Arandjelovac, Sabac, Novi Pazar, Pancevo and Kopaonik. Vip Mobile provides free 4G in Belgrade and Pancevo

Serbian operator Vip Mobile has announced that post-paid customers in Belgrade and Pancevo can replace their SIM cards for free for ones supporting 4G at their nearest Vip center, while keeping their existing phone number. Telekom Srbija starts offering 4G services

Telekom Srbija has started providing 4G services. Initially, the 4G signal covers parts of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Sabac, Kragujevac, Arandjelovac, Novi Pazar, Pancevo and Kopaonik. Vip Mobile to invest EUR 30 million in 4G this year

Vip Mobile is the first Serbian operator to introduce 4G and plans to start commercial operation in May, general director Dejan Turk told Tanjug. The operator will invest around EUR 30 million this year in new infrastructure and upgrading the over 800 base stations, in order to achieve better 4G coverage. Serbian regulator issues 4G licences to operators

On the occasion of the completion of the tender for individual licences to use radio frequencies in the range 1710-1785/1805-1880 MHz, Serbia's Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services has issued the operators with the licences for two radio frequency blocks of 5 MHz. Telenor Serbia expands 3G coverage over 10 percent in 2014

Telenor Serbia said it expanded its 3G network coverage by over 10 percent in 2014. The 3G signal was introduced at over 100 new sites, including Drvengrad, the Vlasina Lake, Zaovina, the Zlatar Lake and many others.
