Telenor Norway will be removing unused telegraph poles as it steps up the modernisation of its fixed network and transfers customers from the old copper lines to a system based on fibre. About 30,000 subscribers will be switched in 2019 and Telenor aims to move all its copper customers by 2023. Acting CEO Bjorn Ivar Moen said it would work with central and local authorities, business and other interest groups as its modernisation work would involve building new base stations and excavating streets.
