Telenor, Telia appoint new managing director for joint Danish mobile network

Telenor Denmark has announced the appointment from 18 March of Henrik Brogaard as CEO of TT, its joint mobile communications network with Telia Denmark. He will join TT from the role of managing director at the fintech company Bancore and has previously worked at Ericsson, TDC and Nokia.

Danish Energy Authority approves Lebara application to apply EU roaming charges

The Danish Energy Authority said it has approved a request from Lebara to apply roaming supplements to cover any losses in the EU. This is because the operator has shown evidence that it made a loss on roaming services of more than 3 percent of its earnings from mobile services. Telia Denmark Q1 revenues drop but local currency EBITDA rises 1%

Telia Denmark reported a decline in first quarter net sales and service revenues but said the figures show it continues to run a stable business. Danish CEO Morten Bentzen said despite a reduced top line, its profits and customer base are largely unchanged, with EBITDA in local currency up by 1 percent. He put this down to its focus on improving procedures and efficiency, boosting customer satisfaction.

Telia Denmark migrates Triangle Region customers to EWII fibre network in June

Telia Denmark and regional energy and broadband provider EWII said they are joining forces to provide fibre connectivity in the Triangle Region formed by the towns of Billund, Fredericia, Haderslev, Middelfart, Vejen, Vejle and Kolding. From June, all of Telia's broadband customers there will move to EWII's fibre network.

Telenor Denmark to offer eSIM support for Apple Watch Series 4

Telenor Denmark said it will start offering embedded SIM support for the Apple Watch Series 4 when the product goes on sale on 29 March. This will enable Telenor customers to connect their Apple smartwatch to their existing mobile phone number via eSIM so that they can take and make calls on their wrist. It will be compatible with the iPhones SE, 6, 6S, 7, 7S, 8, X, XR, XS, XS Max and all their Plus variants.

Telia Denmark names new head of retail and SOHO business

Telia Denmark said it has appointed Suzaan Sauerman as director of retail and SOHO business, succeeding Gustav Berghog, who left the company earlier this year. She joins Telia from her own consultancy, Sauerman & Co and has previously held management roles at companies including Jabra, Bower & Wilkens, Motorola and T-Mobile. She takes up the post in mid-April.

Telenor Denmark adds Turkey to Roam Away+ service

Telenor Denmark said retail subscribers to its Roam Away+ service can now use mobile voice services, texts and up to 20 GB of internet in Turkey at no extra charge. This takes the number of countries where Roam Away+ is available to 47, it said, although it counts England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as separate ones. Telenor said Roam Away+ is available with the the Mobil 30 GB (DKK 200 monthly), Mobil 60 GB (DKK 250) and Mobil Fra Data (DKK 300) subscriptions.

Telenor, Nokia test 5G capabilities in Denmark in Q2 using AirScale base stations

Telenor Group and Nokia have announced a trial in Denmark of 5G capabilities such as enhanced mobile broadband and low latency communication for commercial applications. They will test 5G capabilities in both the radio access network (RAN) and the mobile core network in Denmark. Nokia will deploy AirScale base stations and test new functions in the cloud core network.

3 Denmark signs national roaming agreement with TDC, replacing deal with Telia

3 Denmark said that it has signed a roaming agreement with TDC, which will enable it and its Oister sub-brand's customers to use mobile services via TDC in places where 3 Denmark's own network does not reach. This replaces the roaming agreement with Telia Denmark, dating from 2015, and covers 2G, 3G and 4G alike. 3 Denmark added that its own LTE network covers 98 percent of the Danish population.

Telenor and Telia Denmark herald approach of 1 Gbps mobile service

Telenor Denmark and Telia Denmark said in separate statements they have paved the way for the provision of mobile services at up to 1 Gbps. The two operators have a joint Danish network, called TT, whose operation is outsourced to Nokia. Telenor said it mounted 5G equipment on an existing mast in central Copenhagen, and Telia said other towns are in the pipeline for the gigabit mobile service.

Telia, Telenor outsource Danish network operations to Nokia

Telenor and Telia have chosen Nokia as the new partner to run their joint mobile network in Denmark, known as the TT network. From October, Nokia will take over operational management and development of the radio access network for the operators. Nokia was already the supplier of the Single RAN.

TDC CTO departs for Telia-Telenor Denmark joint network

Telia Denmark and Telenor Denmark have appointed Carsten Bryder as CEO of their joint Danish grid, TT-netvaerket, from 01 June. His most recent role has been as technical director at TDC. Bryder will be responsible for running and developing Denmark's largest and most heavily used mobile network, said the companies, and for making it future-proof.
