Telenor writes down value of Indian venture

Telenor said it's writing down the goodwill and licences it owns in India by NOK 4.2 billion. The charge follows the ruling by the Indian Supreme Court cancelling GSM licences awarded in 2008, including those held by Telenor's joint venture Uninor. Telenor said the charge will be included in Q4 2011 results, to be reported on 08 February. After the writedown, Telenor's Indian operations are valued at NOK 2.4 billion.
