Telia has installed an LTE base station supplied by Ericsson on the island of Gotland to provide mobile broadband to both locals in Visby as well as tourists visiting the city as of 30 June. The new infrastructure will provide people with access to mobile broadband at speeds of 80 Mbps. As of 30 June, the LTE network will cover most of central Visby. Telia's aim is to expand the network gradually. Telia will offer LTE coverage to 25 locations in Sweden before the end of the year, from Lulea in the north to Lund in the south. Telia launched its first LTE network in Stockholm at the end of last year.
