Telia Norway has announced the launch of a subscription called Telia X, which it says allows customers to surf and stream using the mobile internet on their phone as much as they like, and to share data with other people. Downloads will be throttled to 3 Mbps once customers have used 40 GB in a month. Kjersti Jamne, head of Telia Norway’s private market division said this is a truly unlimited service, in that everything is permitted, including using the SIM in one’s broadband router.
The subscription costs NOK 579 per month and there is no minimum commitment. Customers do not need to ask for top-ups with this subscription, said Telia. This is a tacit referral to Chilimobil’s Chili Fri Data subscription, which allows unrestricted internet use but requires customers to send a text once they have consumed 5 GB in one day, in order to add another 3 GB. Chili customers have to send an SMS request after each subsequent 3 GB bundle, but there is no restriction to the daily top-ups.
The unlimited use applies throughout the Nordic and Baltic countries. Elsewhere, customers get up to 22 GB of data included.
Telia Norway’s Smart 20 GB subscription provides costs NOK 529 per month, again with no tie-in period. It allows zero-rated music streaming, unlimited voice calls, texts and MMS in Norway, data roll-over, as well as Roam Like at Home in the EU, EEA and Switzerland.
Telia Smart 15 GB costs NOK 479 per month with the same other benefits as the 20 GB service. Smart 10 GB costs NOK 429; Smart 6 GB costs NOK 379; Smart 4 GB costs NOK 329; and Smart 2 GB costs NOK 249.
Telia Ung 20 GB subscription for young people under the age of 29 years old also costs NOK 529 per month, with Roam Like at Home in the EU and EEA, unrestricted calls/SMS/MMS in Norway, and data roll-over. This, too, allows zero-rated music streaming.
