TeliaSonera launches LTE in Denmark
TeliaSonera launched commercial LTE services in Denmark to customers in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg. The roll-out of the Danish LTE network continues and TeliaSonera expects to cover 75 percent of the Danish population in 2011. The consumer price for Telia's LTE service is DKK 399 per month for up to 80Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, with the Samsung GT-B3730 USB modem for DKK 499. That includes 30GB of data use per month. Customers can also take a slower plan at up to 20/1.5Mbps for DKK 299 per month, including 20GB. At present, TeliaSonera offers LTE services to customers in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Over 20 cities in the Nordic countries have LTE from TeliaSonera with speeds of up to ten times higher than 3G.

LMT launches LTE in Latvia

LMT, TeliaSonera's mobile operator in Latvia, has launched commercial LTE services. LMT said the first base station is in Jurmala, a coastal town west of Riga, and coverage will be gradually expanded in line with the 3G network. Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel has expanded LTE testing to five major Lithuanian cities: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys. TeliaSonera reported a fall in second-quarter revenues, hurt by negative currency effects, while its net profit improved strongly due to lower restructuring and financing charges. TeliaSonera sees improved sales in Q1

TeliaSonera reported improving sales trends across its markets in the first quarter, with revenues in local currencies and excluding acquisitions up 2.5 percent from a year earlier. TeliaSonera has ordered LTE modems with support for 3G and 2G from Samsung. Samsung will deliver large volumes of the new modems during Q2 for customers in Sweden and Norway.
