Telmex to fight pay-TV license rejection in court
Telmex will appeal the Mexican government's recent decision of rejecting its application to start offering video services on the local market, Bloomberg reports, citing Javier Mondragon, Telmex's regulatory and legal affairs director. The Mexican Communications and Transport Ministry said that Telmex cannot sell TV services because it failed to meet certain conditions of its license, including efficiently providing connections to rivals. The ruling followed five years of silence from the government agency, which was forced to respond following a court order this month. According to Mondragon, Telmex will go back to court this week in its push to provide television. "Telmex has complied with all the requirements. We think this decision by the ministry isn't supported by the law", Mondragon said.
