Telstra begins selling LTE phone
Australian communicatins provider Telstra has begun selling its first LTE smartphone: the HTC Velocity 4G. The Velocity 4G features a 4.5-inch touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 8-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and FM radio. Telstra launched LTE mobile services last September, and the service is available in Australia's eight capital city CBDs plus more than 80 regional and metropolitan centres. Telstra claims that customers using the HTC Velocity in LTE coverage areas will get typical download speeds ranging from 2 to 40 Mbps and typical upload speeds from 1 to 10 Mbps. Outside of LTE coverage areas the HTC Velocity 4G switches to Telstra's 3G mobile network.
