Telstra launches unlimited data plan for smartphone users
Australian operator Telstra has introduced its first smartphone plan with unlimited data. Starting 3 May, the Telstra Endless Data BYO plan will be available for AUD 69 per month. The plan includes unlimited data, including 40GB of data traffic at uncapped speeds followed by access capped at 1.5Mbps for the remainder of the month. The Endless Data BYO plan is for personal use on a smartphone only.

The plan also offers unlimited voice calls, SMS and MMS to standard Australian numbers plus extras such as unlimited Wi-Fi data at more than one million Telstra Air hotspots around Australia and access to every AFL, NRL and netball game this season.

Telstra also reports that it has invested AUD 5.5 billion in its network over the past three financial years, increasing capacity to cater for significant growth in mobile data use and extending coverage to 99.4 percent of the Australian population. The operator increased the number of mobile network sites to more than 9,200 across Australia, and expanded its 4G coverage to 99 percent of the population and a landmass area of 1.6 million square kilometers, while 3G coverage has been expanded to cover 99.4 percent of the population and a landmass area of 2.5 million square km.
