Telstra loses COO McKenzie
Telstra announced that Chief Operations Officer Kate McKenzie will retire from Telstra after 12 years with the operator. 

McKenzie has led three business units for Telstra during the past nine years and worked as COO since 2013. She was Group Managing Director, Telstra Innovation, Products and Marketing from 2010 to 2013 and joined Telstra in 2004 as head of its regulatory group. She later served as Group Managing Director of Strategic Marketing and Group Managing Director of Telstra Wholesale. 

McKenzie will leave Telstra in the coming weeks, with no reason given for her departure. Group Executive Global Enterprise and Services Brendon Riley will be interim COO with immediate effect while a permanent replacement is found. Telstra’s Group Managing Director for Network Applications and Services, David Burns, will act in Riley’s role.

New Zealand operator Chorus has appointed Kate McKenzie as its CEO, effective February 2017. McKenzie most recently served as Telstra's chief operations officer. Telstra shows solid FY, returns AUD 1.5 bln to shareholders

Telstra reported full year results for its financial year 2016 in line with guidance and said it will return AUD 1.5 billion to shareholders through share buy-backs in addition to the final dividend. The company announced a fully franked final dividend of 15.5 cents per share, bringing the total dividend for the financial year to 31.0 cents per share, up 1.6 percent from the year before, and translating into AUD 3.8 billion for shareholders. Telstra commits AUD 3 bln more for networks, digitisation

Telstra said it will invest up to AUD 3 billion more into networks and digitisation over the next three years, in a move CEO Andrew Penn said will ensure the company's technological leadership and a significantly improved customer experience. Telstra's CIO Yarkoni resigns

Telstra's chief information officer Erez Yarkoni has announced his resignation from the telecommunications provider, citing a move back to the US as the reason, zdnet.com reports. Yarkoni's resignation comes just over a year after his appointment to the CIO role in February 2015. Prior to that, he served as executive director of Telstra's Cloud business after joining the telco in 2013.

Telstra sacks CTO

Australian operator Telstra has sacked its chief technology officer Vish Nandlall, with the executive leaving "under less than favourable circumstances", The Australian reports. The paper's sources said the operator took action against Nandlall after he was found to have falsified his CV and was accused of plagiarism of presentation material. Nandlall joined Telstra almost two years ago from Ericsson North America. Telstra appoints former Nokia CEO Elop as technology chief

Telstra has appointed Stephen Elop its new Group Executive Technology, Innovation and Strategy, a newly created role. The Australian operator said Elop will be responsible for leading Telstra's strategy to become a world class technology company. He will report directly to CEO Andrew Penn and be based jointly in the US and Australia. Elop has held global executive roles with Nokia, Microsoft, Juniper, Adobe and Macromedia, including CEO of Nokia for three years, from 2010 to 2013.
