Telstra starts commercial LTE trial
Australian telecommunications firm Telstra will launch a limited number of 4G USB modems on 29 August. Some 2,000 4G modems will be available to business and enterprise customers as part of a commercial pilot ahead of the official launch later this year. The 4G modem will use dual mode LTE/HSPA technology, enabling it to operate across the 1800 MHz and 850 MHz spectrum bands. Coverage is initially limited to five kilometres from the General Post Office in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The 4G modem will be available initially to select business customers for AUD 0 upfront on the AUD 49 per month Telstra Mobile Broadband Standard Plan over 24 months with 7 GB included data.
