Telus launches Optik suite of TV, internet services
Canadian operator Telus has launched the Optik suite of enhanced TV and internet services. Optik brings together Telus' home services Optik TV, powered by the Microsoft Mediaroom, and Optik High Speed, offering internet access speeds of up to 25 Mbps that can be accessed anywhere in the user's home with home Wi-Fi. The Optik TV offers PVR anywhere, networking all TVs in the home with one multi-tuner PVR so customers can pause a recorded show or movie in one room and pick it up in another from where they left off. The service also offers VoD with DVD-style controls, picture-in-picture browsing and call display on TV. In the near future Telus will introduce Remote Recording that enables to programme Optik TV PVR from a smartphone or web-enabled computer. Telus' Optik High Speed Internet service also includes in-home Wi-Fi at no additional cost. With a box, customers can use their computers and printers wherever it suits them without being tethered to a wire. Telus's fibre network is offering internet to customers in British Columbia and Alberta. The company is investing CAD 1.7 billion this year to continue expanding its network and offering enhanced internet and Optik TV in Alberta and British Columbia.
