Tencent's Q3 profit jumps 69%, revenues climb 61%
Chinese internet group Tencent reported third-quarter total revenues of CNY 65.2 billion, which represents an increase of 61 percent year-on-year. Revenue growth was mainly boosted by smartphone games and PC games, payment related services, digital content subscriptions and sales, and online advertising, the company said. Tencent’s operating profit rose 57 percent year-on-year. Profit jumped 69 percent year-on-year to CNY 18 billion. 

EBITDA amounted to CNY 24 billion, up from CNY 15.8 billion in the third quarter of 2016, while capex amounted to CNY 3.4 billion, down from CNY 3.6 billion in the third quarter of 2016. Free cash flow grew by 94 percent year-on-year. Basic earnings per share were CNY 1.912, while diluted earnings per share stood at CNY 1.888.

Monthly active user accounts (MAU) reached 843.2 million, which represents a decline of 3.8 percent year-on-year. Smart device MAU of QQ was 652.9 million, down 2.5 percent year-on-year. Combined MAU of Weixin and WeChat were 980 million, an increase of 15.8 percent from September 2016.
