Thoma Bravo in talks to acquire McAfee - report

McAfee could soon fully sell to private investment firm Thoma Bravo, Reuters reported. McAfee parents Intel and TPG Capital are in talks to sell the company, though these are still at an early stage, sources said.

Intel bought McAfee in February 2011. It then converted Intel Security into a joint venture with TPG Capital in 2017. Thoma Bravo said it took a minority stake at the time as well, through an agreement with TPG. Intel kept a 49 percent stake in the new company.

Thomas Bravo is reportedly also in talks to buy Symantec.
