VimpelCom announced that Jan Edvard Thygesen was appointed the company's deputy CEO and COO, effective 01 January 2012. Following the announcement, Thygesen will with immediate effect resign from the position of EVP and head of the CEE region at Telenor. Bjorn Magnus Kopperud will be acting head of the CEE region from the same date. Thygesen has held a number of leading positions within the fixed and mobile areas at Telenor, and has helped lead the development of both the fixed and mobile operations in Norway. Thygesen has since 2006 headed Telenor's Central and East European operations. In addition to the responsibility for the CEE companies, Thygesen sits on the supervisory board of VimpelCom, Telenor's Indian mobile operation Uninor and on the board of DiGi in Malaysia.
