TIM launches 'Magnifica' FTTH branding for 10 Gbps offer

Telecom Italia (TIM) has officially launched its new fixed broadband portfolio under the brand name Magnifica for its 10 Gbps FTTH service based on XGS-PON technology, Executive for the 2.5 Gbps profile and Premium for the 1 Gbps service, the latter replacing TIM Super. The TIM Magnifica 10 Gigabit plan at download speeds of up to 10 Gbps and upload of up to 2 Gbps is already available in parts of Milan, Turin, Trento, Trieste, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Cagliari, Taranto and Brindisi, where the XGS-PON technology multiplies tenfold the speed achievable by TIM’s current GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network).

The operator will be advertising the new Magnifica offer via a major advertising campaign on TV and social media backed by Mina’s song “Questa è TIM” (“This is TIM”) and featuring the slogan “Simply Magnificent” as well as the claims "Fibre 10 times faster" plus "powerful, stable, safe".  The service also comes with Wi-Fi 6 technology, certification by TIM technicians, signal optimisation and the Safe Web Plus service (parental control and secure navigation) also extended to all SIMs in the household.

The TIM First Class assistance service gives Magnifica customers provides priority access to the 187 service from 8am to 8pm and, by appointment, in TIM stores.  If customers are in any way dissatisfied with the assistance received they can request a bonus in their bill, said the company.

In the covered cities, customers can currently sign up to the TIM Magnifica plan at a cost of EUR 49.90 a month with no activation fees and a TIM XGS-PON router.

Earlier this year wholesale provider Open Fiber also announced the launch of a 10 Gbps service based on XGS-PON technology in partnership with ZTE.
