TIM network spinoff could cost 20,000 jobs - unions

Thursday 22 November 2018 | 16:14 CET | News
The operator has a workforce of around 50,000 in Italy and has been exploring the separation of its last-mile network for some time with a view to addressing concerns from the Italian government, competitors and regulators. TIM's new CEO, Luigi Gubitosi, is supported by US activist investor Elliott Management, which seized control of the operator's board from Vivendi in May and has pushed strongly for the spin off of Netco, which is said to be worth up to EUR 15 billion.
