TNM launches 3G services
Malawi mobile operator TNM has launched 3G services, including mobile broadband and video calling. Already available for postpaid customers, the service is open to prepaid users starting the first week of April. Network coverage is currently available in Blantyre and Lilongwe and will soon be extended to other major urban areas of Mzuzu, Zomba, Mangochi and Karonga. Until the end of June, TNM will offer video calls at the same price as voice calls. TNM started testing on the WCDMA/HSDPA network in December last year. Its rival Zain Malawi was awarded a 3G licence in November 2009.
