Tracfone to acquire MVNO Start Wireless
America Movil's US-based subsidiary Tracfone Wireless has agreed to acquire all the assets of Star Wireless Group. US-based MVNO Star Wireless currently provides prepay plans for voice, messaging and data services to around 1.4 million customers across the US under the name Page Plus Cellular. It uses the Verizon Wireless network. The transaction is scheduled for completion in this year's second quarter. No financial details related to the acquisition have been disclosed.

Tracfone to pay state of California USD 24.4 mln in fees

US MVNO Tracfone, a unit of America Movil, has been ordered to pay California USD 24.4 million in unpaid fees and interest. TracFone did not pay fees required of all regulated telecoms companies, AP reports, citing a 11 July decision from ALJ McKinney, the California Public Utilities Commission's presiding officer.

Tracfone adds 839,000 subs in Q1, revenues jump nearly 40%

US MVNO Tracfone, a unit of America Movil, added 839,000 new customers in the first quarter, nearly 127.1 percent more than in the year-earlier quarter. Tracfone ended March with 23.2 million customers, up 15.4 percent year-on-year. Quarterly revenues came in at USD 1.5 billion, up 39.8 percent from a year earlier. ARPU expanded 15.8 percent to USD 19. MOU jumped 30 percent year-on-year to 526 minutes per subscriber.

America Movil sees Q1 net profit drop 17.4%

America Movil's first-quarter revenues totaled MXN 193 billion, slightly up compared to the year-earlier period in Mexican peso terms, and up by 6.1 percent year-on-year at constant exchange rates, with service revenues growing 4.6 percent led by mobile data and by pay-TV revenues which rose by 25.6 percent and 20.6 percent, respectively.
